Newborn FAQ
Q: When should I schedule my newborn session?
A: As soon as you know your due date you can schedule your session. Newborn sessions need to be done within two weeks of the baby’s birthday. We can get you scheduled and adjust the date as needed once the baby is here.
Q: What should I bring?
A: Yourselves! I have everything we need for newborn photos at my studio including wraps and bows, but you are welcome to bring anything you want in the photos as well.
Q: What should I wear?
A: Neutrals are always a good choice but I want you to feel comfortable and dress however you’d like. I’m happy to help you if you’re stumped! I also have some beautiful dresses in my client closet that you are welcome to borrow for your session.
Q: Are family and sibling photos included?
A: Absolutely! I like to start my newborn sessions with family and sibling photos, and then you all can relax while I focus on baby photos. I have toys and suckers for siblings and you’re welcome to bring snacks (there is a smoothie shop next door and a bakery across the street).
Q: Do I have to be in the photos?
A: I highly encourage it but if you want the session to be all about the baby that’s totally fine too!
Q: Can I bring extra family members to help?
A: Sure! Grandparents, aunts, etc. are always welcome.
Q: Why are newborn sessions two hours?
A: I block out two hours to give us plenty of time to stop and feed/change/soothe the baby as needed. We want a sleepy baby with a full belly to get the best photos.
Q: How long will it take to get my photos?
A: All of my sessions have a two week turnaround, but I try my best to get them edited and to you ASAP.
Q: Where do you suggest printing my photos?
A: You can order prints from a professional lab right from your shootproof gallery, and they will be shipped straight to you. Otherwise you may upload your digital downloads to a website of your choice and order prints that way. I highly recommend Miller’s Photo Lab or Mpix.com. Please do not use places like Walgreens and CVS as they are not professional quality labs.
*I know family pictures can be stressful, especially with a new baby, so I strive to make it as stress-free and relaxing as possible!
